About Us
At CamVolt, we’re dedicated to optimising battery performance through advanced stack pressure control.
In 2024, our Cambridge-based founders Dr Joe Stallard and Heng Wang learned that battery developers faced a critical problem: they needed a way to apply pressure accurately and consistently to their pouch cells, but an obvious solution didn’t exist. Based on Heng’s doctoral research, we knew that pressure has a major impact on the performance of cells in experimental situations. Further, insufficient or uncontrolled stack pressure can cause faster degradation, shorter lifespans, and inconsistent performance. We founded CamVolt to provide an easy and reliable way to apply pressure to batteries during cycling and formation, in both research labs and beyond.
In our early days, we set about designing standard rigs for pouch cells. However, we soon realised it was not technically feasible to provide pressure solutions one-size-fits-all. That’s why at CamVolt, we work with our customers and their specific requirements to design personalised rigs for their cells. This bespoke design process ensures that our customers can apply the ideal pressure for the optimal performance of their batteries.
For the next generation of battery research and development, accurate pressure will be an even more important factor in battery optimisation. CamVolt is here to offer the pressure solution.
